April Showers

Happy Friday everyone! This week my Friday's Fancies outfit revolves around what I would love to wear if I was caught in an "April shower". There are so many cute and chic rain accessories, that it makes the rain seem less dreary! This ruffled umbrella makes me so happy!

I am in New Jersey for work this week, and am so excited because I am going to spend the weekend with my family here! Have a great weekend loves!

DIY Williams Sonoma Easter Egg Topiary

While shopping on Sunday, I saw these beautiful Easter egg topiaries from Williams-Sonoma.

I think they are such a beautiful way to add a bit of Easter decor, but the price tag is not exactly budget friendly. So with my 40% off coupon in hand, I wen to Michael's to try and replicate my own! I used the following supplies:
1.  Hot glue (I recommend low temp so you don't burn your hand like I did!)
2.  Styrofoam cone, any size will do, depending on the type of topiary you want to make
3.  Plastic eggs  (I found natural looking eggs that do not open in the Easter section of Michaels)
4. Bag of green or brown moss

Begin by hot gluing the eggs to the bottom row of the cone. Ensure you hold the egg to the styrofoam until it is set, otherwise they will fall off. Work your way up to the top of the topiary staggering smaller and larger eggs. Ensure that you leave enough space between them to fill the areas with moss, 1/2 - 1 inch is plenty.

Then hot glue one of the larger eggs to the top of the topiary. If your styrofoam cone is very pointy at the top, cut off a few inches to give the egg a more solid base.

Take small pieces of the moss and hot glue them to the styrofoam in between the eggs. This part was pretty messy so I recommend doing it over news paper!

Here are the final products! I made two of these to go on top of two large candle sticks that we have in our dining room. As you can see, I still clearly need to work on setting up my Easter table!

I hope you enjoyed this fun and inexpensive project! Have a great Tuesday loves! xoxo Meggan

Friday's Fancies: The Big Game

Hi everyone, Happy Friday!! I am not the hugest fan of college basketball (I am a football girl), but it is not hard to get caught up in the excitement of March Madness. This year in particular has been exciting because my Dad's alma mater, Lehigh, beat one of the top ranked teams Duke. I was so proud of them! When {av} announced that this week's Friday's Fancies would revolve around an outfit you would wear to a March Madness basketball game, I knew I had to participate. Casual but chic outfits are my favorite!

I hope you all have a fabulous Friday and weekend! For date night tonight, we are going to see The Hunger Games! I can't wait!

Updates & Easy Make Ahead Meals!

Hi sweet friends! It has been a crazy couple of weeks here in Ft Lauderdale! Kris and I traveled to Vail with his parents for a couple of days (my first trip to CO ever, pictures to follow soon!) but after we got back I got super sick. However, after a round of antibiotics I seem to be on the road to recovery!

On Sunday I decided to make several make ahead meals for the week ahead so I can save time during the week. I have never taken this approach to cooking before, but I am loving it so far!

First up are these amazing Corn, Black Bean and Beef Empanadas. Since moving to South Florida, I have completely fallen in love with empanadas! I individually packaged them up and am storing them in the freezer.

Then I prepped these Classic Stuffed Peppers and froze them. Who knew you could freeze peppers? We are planning on having them for dinner tomorrow!

And finally, tonight for dinner we had this Ginger-Garlic Chicken Stir Fry from Rachael Ray. I am normally not the hugest fan of Rachael's recipes, but this was awesome!

The couple of hours spent on Sunday night cooking has been so worth it to reduce my stress this week. I highly recommend it!

Paint The Town Red - Wedding Welcome Party

Happy Tuesday, friends! I hope you all had a wonderful start to your week! I wanted to share the pictures with you from the wedding welcome party for my brother in law's wedding! The main wedding color was red, so this party had a red carpet/"paint the town red" theme! There was an amazing dessert bar (catered by Serendipity), a gorgeous tent and of course the step and repeat! It was such a blast...especially taking silly pictures in front of the step and repeat! Most of the pictures below were taken by the amazing Littles Photography in Fort Lauderdale, I highly recommend them for any event or wedding!

The favors were these amazing paint cans filled with red velvet cupcakes in a mason jar, hot sauce, a lotto ticket, water and chocolate covered cherries!

Having fun in front of the step and repeat!

Friday's Fancies, Touches of Tangerine

Happy Friday from Orlando! I have been here for business this week. It has been so strange to be in Orlando but not go to Disney! Anyway, I am so excited to be back with Friday's Fancies to show off my favorite tangerine look! I love accents of tangerine and found these adorable accessories to go with my dream fuchsia skirt!

I hope you all have a fabulous Friday and weekend! xoxo Meggan
