Memorial Day In A Small Town

This past weekend we went to a beautiful small town in Central Florida called Lake Placid for my husband's family reunion! Lake Placid has gorgeous lakes (as you can imagine by the name!), the nicest people, and small town charm for miles! I loved celebrating Memorial Day with such a large group of family. My Grandfather and Great Uncle were both veterans, and I am so thankful for all of our heroes who have served our great country!

Avery and Charlotte had the best time playing with cousins, swimming/boating all day and eating snow cones! Kris and I have been married for almost 9 years so his family has become like my own, and I treasure this time too! Being at the lake isn't the most relaxing for us moms with little ones, but we always make it fun!

On Saturday, while Charlotte was napping and Avery was out on the boat with my father-in-law, I met up with one of my very best friends, Katie, who happened to also be in Lake Placid for the weekend! In addition to being one of my favorite people in real life, she is also a blogger! Her blog, Palm Beach Farm, is amazing! Katie and I met 9 years ago when I first moved to South Florida. My mother in law, and her mom were in a church small group together and they both told us that we had to meet the other! When I met Katie, I knew she would be a friend for life! She is genuine, loyal and SO much fun! We always shared our love of fashion but now we also get to share our journeys has moms of young children as well! Katie is a super woman balancing life as a mom to THREE boys all while doing it with such fabulous style!

We had so much fun shopping at our favorite local boutique, The Blueberry Patch, drinking green smoothies/pressed juice at the vegan restaurant and snapping some outfit pictures! I fell in love with this super affordable off the shoulder maxi dress while shopping last week and brought it with me on our weekend trip. It is super comfortable and breezy for hot summer days. It would also be great to wear to the beach as a cover-up and then to lunch or dinner...love pieces that are versatile!

In snow cone heaven! Similar Bathing suit (this one is sold out)

Charlotte was overflowing with excitement by her first snow cone!

I took this picture on Sunday - all of the girl's cousins had gone home for the weekend, and Avery was crying because she missed them...she has such a sweet heart! Charlotte walked over and hugged her. So happy to capture a candid moment like this when they were not fighting, ha!

I hope you and your family had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

Inside My Beach Bag

Sandals // Texturizing Spray // Sunscreen Serum // Sunglasses // Hat // Water Bottle (similar)

With Memorial Day weekend approaching quickly, I wanted to share a few things that I will be packing up as we go to the beach this weekend! Often times, I am weighed down by endless juice boxes, sand toys and snacks, but as a mom we have to have a few things for ourselves, right?! :)

Cute flip-flops
These sandals are so fun! I love the color, the prince ($4) and the fact that they reference my favorite drink, rose!

Texturizing Spray
I tried this spray last week at Sephora and fell in LOVE! My hair is very fine and after spraying a bit of this in my beach waves, I felt like I had double the hair.  Plus my hair didn't feel sticky after which has happened with a lot of these types of sprays in the past.

Sunscreen
I have been using this sunscreen serum for a few months now as my morning sunscreen moisturizer. It is light weight and doesn't feel like you are wearing sunscreen. As a Floridian with sun sensitive skin, I try and be diligent about wearing sunscreen daily, so this is a perfect option.

Sunglasses
I have been living in these sunglasses since Kris got them for me for Christmas! I love the fact that they are metallic and hide super tired eyes! This brand is fantastic - the quality is great and the price point is even less than other similar brands.

Panama Hat
This Panama hat has been in my closet for a few years now! I love that it goes from the beach to the city with ease.

Water Bottle
Drinking water is obviously an essential at the beach! I have been a huge S'Well fan for a few years now since I found my first S'well bottle on vacation in California! I recently was in Jo-Ann's with my girls and found a cute dupe for only $10! It works similarly and has such a cute palm print. S'well has one here that is also adorable!

My Favorite Spring/Summer Transition Dress

Dress ($30!!) // Shoes // Athena Necklace

This spring/summer dress has been on heavy rotation in my wardrobe lately! I wore it for a baby shower, to church and for a girls night recently. It is easy to wear and is so high quality for the price point! I paired it with these cute espadrilles (so comfortable) and my favorite new necklace from the Styled Collection! I just learned about this site and am obsessed! My necklace is only $36 and I love the layered look!

Have a great day! XOXO Meggan

Black & White Gingham

Target Top // H&M Jeans // Chanel Bag (similar here) // Target Shoes // David Yurman Bangles // BP Sunglasses

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you had a wonderful weekend! My weekend was filled with a girls night with my best friends, a friends daughter's birthday party at the splash pad, and a double date night!

I have always been a huge fan of gingham...even when it wasn't that popular! Many years ago, I once wore a red and white gingham dress to a casual rehearsal dinner. I loved the dress, buuuut I didn't know the dinner was a BBQ...with red gingham table cloths, ha! Nothing like matching the table cloth...whoops!

Well, this black and white gingham top is one of my favorite Target purchases ever. The print is on trend, the material is comfortable and it has the cutest bell sleeve! And hello it's Target...only $28!

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Lace Up Tee and Distressed Denim

lace up t-shirt // white distressed denim // gold flats // oversize aviators // bag // bracelets

As a mom of two little ones, t-shirts have been on repeat for the last few years; you might say I am a connoisseur, ha! I wore this outfit earlier this week for a casual work from home day  I love this lace up t-shirt because it is a great length and has such a unique neck detail. I didn't find it to be too low cut at all. I paired this top with the most comfortable distressed white denim! I have tried so many different white jeans, and this brand is by far my favorite. They are at such  a great price point to boot! These Tieks are an investment, but they are SO worth it! They have held up so well and are THE most comfortable shoes ever! I hope you have a great day, friend!

Charlotte's Pineapple First Birthday Party

Since it has been a while (ahem, forever) since I have blogged, I am catching up with posts on some of my favorite events! Miss Charlotte turned one during late summer, and we thought that a pineapple party would be the perfect theme for an outside bash!

We kept the party super small and child oriented. Kris grilled chicken and steak kebabs and I had a dessert/snack bar for the kids (and grown up kids)! The dessert bar included organic applesauce pouches, multi color goldfish, cupcakes, vanilla oreos, pudding and party favors!

Charlotte had so much fun; especially eating her smash cake! I have included source/information on DIY projects.{Affiliate links are used in this post}

mine were a DIY using these clear latex balloons and tissue paper cut into mini rectangles and placed into the balloon before blowing it up with helium

mine was from target last summer but the above is cute!

high chair (with grey pad removed)  //  DIY smash cake high chair banner (similar here and here

to make the banner, I cut some burlap in a pendant shape and fabric strips from Joanns. I then designed pineapple "one" by searching for a pineapple image online and adding it to the "ne" in word. I lined them up appropriately, printed in black and white and then cut it out so it was one word. Then I traced it over iron on gold glitter paper that I got from Hobby Lobby and ironed it onto the burlap! Then I simply measured some twine to fit the high chair, tied on the ribbon and hot glued on the burlap. I attached it with command mini hooks on the sides!

I found this cute smash cake from our Publix for $9! Yay! Charlotte loved it!

I hope you enjoyed seeing my sweet girl's party details! Have a fabulous Tuesday!

Happy Mother's Day and A Spring Jumpsuit!

Jumpsuit // Sunglasses  (in tortoise...only $12!!) // Purse // Earrings ($13!) // Shoes (old, but loving these!)

Happy Mother's Day everyone!! Being a mom to Avery and Charlotte has been the biggest privilege and challenge of my life, but has also brought me the most incredible amount of joy! An experienced mom once told me that when you have young children, that your days will be long, but the time will go so fast. I find this to be so true! There are days that to be honest, I am totally wiped out from the chaos/meltdowns/fights that took place, but looking back overtime, this isn't what I remember. There are a few doozies that we still laugh about, but the biggest things that I remember are the hugs, kisses, sweet moments and fun!

These girls have such beautiful hearts and I am so blessed to be their mama! They are both complete miracles and gifts from above; you can read more about my journey to become a mom here

Today for Mother's Day, Kris got up with the girls and he helped them to pick out cards and little gifts to bring to me as I was getting ready - it was the cutest thing! Charlotte just kept saying "Happy Mama" over and over again :)  We went to church and then headed to one of our favorite beach side restaurants for brunch with Kris' family. I wore this Free People jumpsuit that I picked up from Nordstrom last week, and it was the perfect mix of style and comfort! I love that it kind of looks like a dress, but is really pants! The print is so soft and feminine - definitely one of my favorite spring pieces!

Charlotte's Mint, Blush and Gold Nursery (On a Budget)

My sweet Charlotte's nursery was a project of love! I had a fairly limited budget for her nursery (hellooo, second child!) but I still wanted to create a beautiful space. I purchased a few things, rehabbed some older pieces and got crafty for the rest!

When planning Charlotte's nursery, I knew that I wanted her room to be bright and whimsical. I was drawn to mint, blush and of course, gold! I also wanted prints that communicated strength, determination, beauty and our love for Jesus. Although she was a super relaxed baby when I was pregnant, Charlotte is truly my wild child! Her energy matches the room we designed for her!

Here are some pictures of her mint, blush and gold, "wild & free" nursery. Sources/project information included!

{Affiliate links are used in this post}

We purchased the crib here for $199! The book holder is from a thrift store, then was painted and I added a monogram decal. The moses basket is an RH baby hand me down from Avery!

The white and rattan hamper was a find from Home Goods - I think it is technically just a storage bin, but it worked perfectly for her hamper!

Gold Monogram Pillow // Dutaillier Glider (recovered in Nate Berkus for Joanns fabric, no exact match online, but I love this one)  // Ikea shelves with braces spray painted gold

The night stand was a piece from our old guest bedroom and was painted a light peach color.

I made the flower covered "C" and the hanging mobile! Both were super easy projects! I found the wooden "C" from Hobby Lobby and covered it with Hobby Lobby green moss. I then hot glued on faux flowers that matched the colors of the room. In order to get it to stand up, I had to use this kind of picture stand

The mobile was also super easy! I took the inside ring of an embroidery hoop, and tied several different types of ribbon around it until the wood was completely covered. Then I tied three longer strings equidistant from one another, and gathered them in the middle to secure it to the ceiling. If you are looking for a cute non-DIY mobile...this one by BlaBla was top of my list!

The gallery wall prints came from Hobby Lobby, Francescas, Target & Etsy (Fruit of the Spirit Print here)

I got all of the shelf styling pieces from Hobby Lobby, my baby shower or vintage stores!

I love the color this rough edge fabric banner brings to the room! This is one of the easiest DIY projects because you just tie fabric strips (however wide you want them to be), to a string, and then hang!

Decor Favorites: Peonies & Blue Ombre

{Affiliate links are used in this post}
May has always been one of my favorite months! Between Mother's Day and all of the birthdays in our family that fall during May, there are so many celebrations! Another perk of this time of year is of course the flowers, and especially peonies! I love the way these white peonies look in my ombre blue vase against apothecary filled vases and our vintage window.  This vase is unfortunately sold out from Target, but I also love this one and this one, which is almost an exact replica!
