The Chambray Shirt Dress

As fall approaches I am shopping for pieces that will transition easily from warm to cool weather. The chambray shirt dress is such a great transitional piece! I can totally see myself wearing it with some nude colored sandals right now and then with these tall boots in the fall. While I was putting this post together I could not resist buying this JCrew chambray shirt dress! With the J.Crew 40% off sale and free shipping offer, it was too great of an offer to pass up! I will do an outfit post soon, but in the mean time here is a roundup of my favorite chambray shirt dresses.

One: Anthropologie, $148, Two: Target, $27 , Three: Anthropologie, $148, Four: Old Navy, $12, Five: JCrew $58 (on sale!), Six: Forever 21, $32

Week of Frozen Crock Pot Meals

Happy Tuesday friends! After going back to work a few weeks ago, I found myself often coming home and realizing that I had no plans for dinner. For some reason every night I would forget to prepare anything in advance for the next day. This week I decided to try making all of our meals in advance on Sunday afternoon. They are all frozen in ziploc bags and will be cooked in the crockpot making it even easier, yay!

Here are the prepped and frozen meals for this week (:
Monday - BBQ Ribs
Wednesday - Taco Soup
Thursday - Cilantro Lime Chicken
Friday - Date Night
Saturday - Chicken Fajitas
Sunday - Kris grilling out

All of this preparation took me about an hour and a half. To have all of the meals ready for the week was such a great feeling! Tonight we had the BBQ ribs and they were delicious!

I also made a new menu board using a chalkboard pen -wow what a difference from using regular chalk! I got mine here using Amazon Prime.

I will let you know how the rest of the week goes!

Five on Friday

Happy Friday!! What better way to kick off the weekend than with a recap of my favorite things this week!

{one}
We just bought patio furniture! After we finished the total interior renovation of our house about 2 years ago, we decided to take a little bit of time off so we could recover (and so could our bank account). Unfortunately the people who owned our house before us really let the landscaping go, so we had to do a total overhaul of the outside too. Right after Avery was born we installed a new irrigation system, sod and a new patio/driveway. I really wanted her to have an actual yard to play in eventually! We are picking up the below dining set this weekend. I can't wait for dinner and drinks on the patio soon!

{two}
I got the cutest pair of boyfriend jeans from Loft this weekend. I had a hard time picking out a top to wear with them (I'm so used to straight leg or skinny jeans!), but I paired them with a striped JCrew top and I was happy with the way it looked!
{three}
I am planning on trying this recipe for fried wild mushroom risotto this weekend! Perfect for our dinner on the patio!

{four}
I have been finding the cutest things at Home Goods recently! I am in the process of decorating my office, powder room and guest room so I have been making many trips to Home Goods!
Here are some of my finds from this week
 Perfect vase for my office! $7.99 :)

Mirror for above our vanity in the powder room. We will paint it either white or black. $39!

I saved the BEST for last! My sweet Avery turned 4 Months on Sunday! Amazing how time flies. She is growing so much and I love her sweet personality that comes out more and more every day!

Running In Style

Shoes,  Nike Racerback Top (on sale at Nordstrom right now!), Headband,  Neon Socks, Headphones, Arm Band for iPhone

If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I just got a new pair of running shoes! I am obsessed with these Brooks Ghost 6 shoes so far. They have made my half marathon training so much easier. Prior to investing in them I was wearing an old pair of New Balance walking shoes to run. The Brooks Ghost 6 are so light and comfortable! Plus, having a cute pair of running shoes is definitely incentive to work out! Since I am just starting to get back into running, I am in the market for some new gear and accessories. Here are my top picks so far for running in style!

Also, if you are interested in seeing the half marathon training schedule that I am doing, it is here. It is perfect for those of us that are seriously out of shape because it combines walking and running to get yo up to the 13 miles.

Have a wonderful day!

Friday Fancies & Favorites

Happy Friday friends! I am off of work and spending the day with Avery today. Going back to work was hard so I love having Friday’s off with my favorite girl! Today I am linking up with two fabulous blog parties: {av} at Long Distance Loving for Friday’s Fancies and my sweet college friend April at A.Liz Adventures for Five on Friday!

One. The outfit I put together for Friday’s Fancies is definitely one of my top five favorites from this week! I am loving these gorgeous sandals in nude and black so much that I created looks for summer and fall using them both! This Milly peplum top is simply beautiful and can be worn as a great transition piece into fall!

Two. This week I started training for the Disney Food & Wine Half Marathon! While I was on bed rest I needed something to look forward to so I decided to sign up for this race with some friends. I haven’t run a half marathon since high school so I am slowly getting my endurance back. I am following this program that involves running/walking and I love it!

Three. I am loving this adorable vintage looking top and skirt from Anthropologie! Definitely added to my fall wish list!

Four. I have been hit with a serious travel itch recently. I love to visit new places, cultures and experience new things. This pin describes my wanderlust perfectly. Our next big trip will probably be a trip to Italy with Kris when Avery is a bit older. Italy is my favorite place ever and I can't wait to show Kris all my favorite things! More on that later!
Five. Of course I am loving my sweet baby girl. Here are some recent shots of Miss Avery Grace!
 Meeting Sophie the giraffe for the first time at the lake house!

 Finally having fun with tummy time

Morning fun before work/daycare (I am looking seriously tired in this picture!)

Avery's Nursery

Back in December, I posted here about my inspiration for Avery's "Vintage Glam" nursery. Decorating her nursery was so much fun and was an amazing distraction while I was on bedrest. Since I couldn't move around all that much, my sweet husband and mom (who graciously stayed with us to help for months!) did a lot of the heavy lifting :)

The whole nursery centered around these two pieces (colette crib, adelaide armoire) from Restoration Hardware Baby...their things are so dreamy!  Avery's nursery is a mix of some investment pieces like the armoire which she can have forever and DIY projects/consignment store finds.

This mirror was actually a chalkboard that my mother in law gave to us! We took the chalkboard out, added a mirror and hung it above Avery's changing table. She loves to smile at herself in this mirror! The Avery burlap banner is from her baby shower.

Oh my word, this little girl has soooo many cute outfits!

This side table was $15 from an antique store. I made the A/K letters as a bedrest project using crepe paper and block letters from Michaels. The pom flowers were also an easy bedrest project and the vase was $5 from Target after Christmas :) Also on this table is Avery's first bible with her name on the cover.

Avery received these two cute stools for her baby shower!

 Avery's crib, a blanket made by my mom and her bunny rocker :)

 Avery pre-birth!

 The bible verse that I claimed for Avery while I was pregnant :)

 Exactly true

These bookshelves for the nursery were the best solution for one completely open wall. As a part of my baby shower, guests were asked to bring a book for Avery instead of  a card so I had quite a few books to display. The bookshelves are from Home Depot and were about $20 each!

The print was designed by yours truly and is in an Ikea frame!

 The armoire :)

 A beautiful wall hanging from Etsy

This glider was a consignment shop makeover! The fabric is from Jo-Anns 40% off of course :)

 Around the glider are a monogrammed trash can, moses basket and hot air balloons that are hanging from the ceiling. The hot air balloons were from a One Kings Lane sale. Avery LOVES to look up at them when I am feeding her bedtime bottle!

Nautical Wedding Inspiration

My younger sister Kristin got engaged a few weeks ago! I could not be more excited for Kristin and her fiancé! The wedding is planned for summer 2014 and is going to be in Martha’s Vineyard. As a wedding lover I must admit that as soon as I heard the engagement news I started planning! The wedding will have a nautical inspired theme because of the destination. Here are some of the images that are inspiring us know for the wedding!
