Friday's Fancies: Wedding Edition
26 August 2011
5:42 AM
My wedding themed blogging is continuing today! This week I shared what my dream destination wedding would look like, and today I am linking up with {av}'s Friday's Fancies to create a guest's outfit for that wedding.
My dream destination wedding takes place in the French Riviera, specifically in a small village called Eze that overlook the Mediterranean sea. I fell in love with this cute town several years ago and always thought it would be the perfect place to get married. This wedding guest's look is dressed up but also breezy for a wedding near the water.
1. Thread Social Gown - I love the fabric of this gown and the semi sheer look. The bow sealed the deal for me with this dress! You can rent it from Rent the Runway here.
2. Michael Kors nude sandals
3. Yves Saint Laurent cocktail ring
4. Balmain crystal and leather clutch
5. Amrita Singh earrings add a pop of fun color
6. Mystique sandals for late night dancing
Be sure to check out {av} at her beautiful blog Long Distance Loving for the other fabulous wedding looks!
I also wanted to tell you about my group blog date last night! It was SO much fun! I met up with several other South Florida bloggers at Uncle Julio's mexican restaurant in Boca Raton. The food was great, but it didn't hold a candle to these fabulous girls I met. It was so funny though because I was the first to arrive, and I didn't know what anyone looked like but Kara, so I felt like I was waiting for a blind date! Then I saw Magaret and Kirstin walk in and I got the courage to nervously ask them, "are you with the bloggers?". Thank goodness they said yes! I also met Veronica who blogs about Palm Beach Consignment stores - love that concept!
Here is a picture of all of us after dinner - thanks so much ladies for a fun night!!
I hope you have a great Friday and weekend! I will be back on Monday with updates from the bachelorette weekend and to announce a winner of our first giveaway! There is still time to enter, here! The winner will receive a $50 gift card to Anthropologie and a Lila Grace picture frame!

Dream Destination Wedding

I am not going to lie, I squealed with excitement when I saw that Jillian and Joelle were hosting a destination wedding blog crawl! I absolutely love destination weddings (you can see mine here) and was ecstatic to have the chance to "plan" another one, but with out any of the stress! Since this is a dream destination wedding I went a bit overboard, but we are all allowed to dream, right?
I picked the French Riviera or Cote d'Azur as my destination. After grad school I backpacked through Europe with a friend and while we were in Monaco we stumbled upon the most amazing city on a cliff called Eze that overlooks the sea. It was my inspiration for this destination wedding.
1. The Hotel du Cap, 2. Sailing in St Tropez, 3. Monte Carlo Casino, 4. Blush sequin dress, 5. View of Eze, 6. Vera Wang Dress, 7. Bouquet, 8. Invitations with burlap and lavender, 9. Flower vase escort cards, 10. Croquembouche, 11. Cheese display is a must, 12. Chandeliers, 13. Beautiful macaroons, 14. Dancing, 15. Eze at night

Wisteria Inspired Shell Wreath
15 March 2011
7:46 PM
Hi everyone!
I hope you had a great weekend and start to your week! I have been super MIA recently because we have had some exciting news in our family! My husband's sister Michael Marie was married last weekend on South Beach. The whole weekend was so perfect and I was so blessed to be a part of it. Lila Grace did several pieces for the wedding including the ring bearer pillow, flower girl sash and hair clips and flowers for the welcome boxes. As soon as I get the pictures from their photographer I will do a post on the incredible weekend!
The other day I found the most amazing shell wreath here on Wisteria's website. I literally just discovered Wisteria and I feel like I have come out of the the dark ages. Seriously, where have I been, this site is amazing!
I fell in love with everything on their site...except the price the shell wreath I was dying over. As I was pouring over the site, the stars aligned and I remembered that I had a ton of shells and star fish left over from my destination wedding {you can check out the post on my wedding here}! I went through several iterations of trying to re-create this wreath and I learned it is really hard to spray paint styrofoam. Finally I made it work! Here is how I made my version of Wisteria's Shell Wreath.
Supplies:
Start off by wrapping your linen fabric around your wreath to cover the straw. Determine where the top center of your wreath will be. Add a loop of fabric to hang your wreath. I used same linen material that I used to wrap the wreath, but you could use white grosgrain ribbon or another classic ribbon. I'm sorry that I didn't take pictures of this stage!
Step 2
Start to hot glue your shells and star fish to the linen on the wreath. I started by gluing a few of the larger shells as "anchors" and then added more shells from there. Not every area of the wreath needs to be covered in shells, but you want it to look full.

Step 3
Once all of your shells are glued to your wreath, do a spot check to ensure everything is glued on securely. Then simply find a fabulous spot for your wreath!
I decided to add my shell wreath to our 2nd bathroom because this bathroom has a beach cottage vibe. This bathroom was TOTALLY overhauled a few months ago {you can read about it here} but there is still some work to do. I can't wait to share the makeover as we go. Here is my finished wreath in it's place!

Have a fabulous night!

Supplies:- Large straw wreath from Michaels with plastic cover on
- Strips of linen fabric - about 3 yards in length and 5-7 inches thick
- Assorted shells and star fish - I found mine on sale at Pottery Barn for a steal at the end of the season
- Hot Glue

My Wedding....Grand Cayman 2008
13 May 2010
5:59 PM
So blogging about the headbands that we did for Stacey's wedding made me think about my wedding! I can't believe it was over a year and a half ago...October 25, 2008. Kris and I got married in Grand Cayman, one of my favorite Carribean islands. I have always wanted a destination wedding and my amazing husband was willing to appease my wish! We hosted about 100 guests for the weekend at the Westin resort. I planned most of the wedding on my own, but was greatly assisted by the incredible team at the Westin Casuarina and Celebrations event planning. Celebrations handled all of our decor, day of coordination and many other details! I was so lucky to have a world class event planning company based out of Grand Cayman. Below are some of my favorite details from my destination wedding!
Our wedding welcome party was hosted by Kris' family! The whole beach in front of our hotel was covered in lounges, cabanas, tiki torches, food areas, mojito stations, steel drums and a cigar roller! We really wanted our guests to feel welcome and enjoy the island.

Kris and I took our pre-wedding pictures at several different locations around Grand Cayman. I seriously debated whether I wanted to see Kris before walking down the aisle. I think there is something so traditional and powerful about seeing your future bride/groom for the first time when you are walking down the aisle. But in order to get great pictures together we decided to see each other before the wedding. Looking back on our wedding day, I am so glad we did! Not only did we get great pictures but we were able to have our moment seeing each other in private. It was perfect. We hired in incredible photographer, Rebecca Davidson, and her team, to do all of the photography and video. They truly captured the essence of our wedding... highly recommended!!

Our two beautiful flower girls, Bailey and Emily wore these silk dresses from J Crew. Lila Grace made their custom blue sashes to match the bridesmaids dresses perfectly!

Our ceremony took place on the beach. I wanted to stick to a simple and elegant color scheme for the ceremony, so we used mostly all white. We added accents of raffia and blue (bridesmaid dresses). We were so blessed to have the most incredible weather for our wedding! I stressed about it all week, but everything worked out perfectly in the end!
