A few weeks ago I posted about a new design book that I found called The Meghan Method. It is a helpful guide to walk you through each step of the interior design process.
After reading through the Meghan Method I decided to makeover the room in my house that needs the most help, the guest bedroom. After our move it basically became adumping ground storage room for boxes, candles, vases and other pieces that haven't found their home yet. Does anyone else have a room like that?! :)

I have gone through the most of the steps that Meghan outlines in her book and wanted to share what I have so far! I won't bore you with all the details, but here is how I started. I came up with my aspirations for our guest bedroom and then found a muse to use as my inspiration.
My muse is this fabulous Anthropologie maxi dress. I was immediately drawn to the beautiful colors and subtle pattern. I also love the comfortable style and almost vintage look to this dress. After selecting my muse I started identifying some of the pieces that I would like to have in our guest room, based on the aspirations that I outlined above. I did add a minty teal to the room's color scheme because it adds a fun pop of color.
What do you think?! I am so excited to start working on the layout of the guest bedroom and repurposing some of the pieces that are already there. I will be sure to share how the makeover goes!

The Meghan Method

There were a couple of things about The Meghan Method that caught my eye at Barnes and Noble yesterday. One, she has a fabulous name (ha!) and two, her book promises readers a step by step guide to interior design.
I love interior design, but I must admit I have always felt a bit intimated by the whole process. I have always felt more comfortable styling clothes than my home, and for some reason always felt that my home design skills would be inadequate.
So...enter The Meghan Method. Meghan Carter from Ask the Decorator interviewed interior design experts from across the country and compiled their design advice, processes and suggestions. Using their feedback, she created a "recipe" for the design process. As I started to read her book yesterday I felt like she was talking directly to me with her take on the typical design process (see below!).
Although I love the eclectic look of collecting unique pieces over a period of time Meghan's design process helps readers to create a vision and then execute it every step of the way. The Meghan Method is filled with beautiful pictures, easy to follow guides and worksheets that you can print from here for free!
I can't wait to dive deeper into this book and complete my design vision for our home...more to come!
Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!
