DIY Confetti Art

On Saturday morning I was perusing through some of the Glitter Guide's past Style at Home articles and I stumbled upon an incredible story on Monika Hibbs of The Doctor's Closet. I loved her style of course, but I particularly fell in love with this custom confetti painting. It adds so much whimsy and fun to Monika's room and it is exactly what my office/craft room needs.

So, I decided to create my own with an 18x24 canvas that I had left over from another project. I changed the color palette to include coral, light corals and gold. The whole project took about an hour and a half (most of which was dry time) and it was free!

I started out by using acrylic paint to create small-medium sized circles with the darkest color in my palette, coral.  I painted more circles on the top half of the canvas to get a falling effect for the confetti.

Then after letting most of the circles dry (not required that they are completely dry), I started painting more circles with a light coral (just my coral paint mixed with a bit of white). Some of the circles should overlap, but they do not have to all be touching.

Next I started adding the gold circles. I thought that would be my last step in the process, but I wanted to add another layer on top of the gold, so i mixed an even lighter coral on top of the gold circles.

Here is the finished product hanging in my office!
Sorry about the poor lighting, I took these pictures at night.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial! Happy painting! Have a great week everyone!!

  2. I love this Meggan!! So easy, I'd love to do this for my room. It's light blue, so I'd probably want to do like gold, navy and a light blue. Great idea!!
